Every hour logged. Every truck moving.

ELD Portal syncs with the engine to record driving time, Hours of Service and location on its own. Drivers get an app they learn in minutes; you get the whole fleet on one dashboard.

Frequently asked questions

What fleets ask us most about ELD Portal and the ELD mandate.

What is an ELD and how does it work?

An electronic logging device (ELD) connects to a truck's engine and automatically records driving time, engine hours, miles and location. The ELD Portal driver app pairs with the device over Bluetooth, so Hours of Service are logged accurately without a paper logbook.

Which duty statuses can drivers select?

Drivers can choose any of the four standard duty statuses:

  • Off duty
  • Sleeper berth
  • Driving, which is recorded automatically when the truck is moving
  • On duty, not driving

Personal conveyance and yard moves are also available when the carrier turns them on.

Can drivers use their own phone or tablet?

Yes. The driver app runs on most current Android and iOS phones and tablets. Drivers pair their device with the ELD plugged into the truck's diagnostic port.

What happens during a roadside inspection?

The driver opens Inspection Mode to show logs on screen, or sends records straight to the officer using an FMCSA-approved transfer method (web services or email). DVIRs and supporting documents are in the same place.

Who is required to use an ELD?

The FMCSA ELD rule covers most motor carriers and drivers who must keep Records of Duty Status, and full compliance has been required since December 16, 2019. There are exceptions, such as certain short-haul drivers and vehicles built before model year 2000. If you are unsure whether your fleet qualifies, ask us.

How long does it take to get started?

Most fleets are running within a day. We help you set up your company account, add drivers and trucks, and install devices, which takes a few minutes per truck.
